People on Evansville's south side may soon notice more patrol cars on their streets. The Evansville Police Department announced a new initiative Sunday that will step up its visibility in the Covert and Kentucky Ave area.
The announcement comes after a recent string of shootings. The most recent occured early Sunday morning. According to a police report, 15 shots were fired into an occupied home.
Robin Baggett, president of the Tepe Park neighborhood association, said he's 'almost positive' the shootings and increased patrols will be discussed at the association's monthly meeting Monday evening. The meeting is at 6:30 p.m. in Tepe Park.
