EPD Chief, Billy Bolin, is back from a nationwide police chief's conference and he's coming home to high tensions. In the last five days, officers have responded to about half a dozen shots fired calls particularly on the city's southside.
Boiln says there's no way his department will win this fight alone.
"They think this is a solution to their problem and they're trying to kill each other and they're trying to shoot each other and they're forgetting about the wider community we have out here. my biggest fear is we have some innocent kid that has nothing to do with this, that's out playing ball or running around in their yard that's going to get hit by one of these bullets and that's where we're wanting the community to step up and say that's enough", Bolin tells Eyewitness News.
The year is not even over and as of Thursday, the department has responded to 500 shots fired calls. Above is a map officials sent us and they say if you see something, you must say something, even anonymously.
