Officers say when they arrived to the 500 block of Jefferson, they found William Cathey being mauled in the street. Police say four of the dogs ran to a nearby yard. An officer had to shoot the fifth dog that was still being aggressive.
"If you get attacked by five dogs," said Sgt. Jason Cullum, "you can expect significant injuries. This gentleman did suffer several dog bites and was taken to the hospital, but fortunately none of them were in an area where it could cause severe injury or a lot of blood loss. So, we're happy his outcome was better than what it could have been."
The man who was attacked by the dogs is at Deaconess Hospital. At last check, he was listed in fair condition.
Right now, the other dogs are being housed at Animal Control. EPD says the dogs' owner may face charges.
