Evansville Man Sentenced for Defrauding IRS

The US Attorneys Office says Steve Pirnat provided tax refund services to about 60 clients in the Evansville area.
An Evansville man is sentenced to 37 months in prison after being convicted of defrauding the IRS of nearly a quarter of a million dollars. 

The US Attorneys Office says 61-year-old Steve Pirnat provided tax refund services to about 60 clients in the Evansville area. 

However, he was not certified by the IRS to do so. 

US Attorneys say without the knowledge of his clients pirnat added false dependents to tax refunds  -- then pocketed the extra money. 

As part of his sentence Pirnat will have to pay restituition after his prison term.
