Eyewitness News was there as they cheered up some patients in St. Mary's Pediatric Unit. Pitcher Eric Massingham says as a kid he always looked forward to meeting his favorite athletes and hopes the team's visit along with Evan the Otter will cheer every body up.
"I just think it's a good thing to do for the kids and everybody that's in here," said Massingham, "and brighten up their day a bit. Being in the hospital is tough. We want to make it as easy as possible. Hopefully when they're doing better, they can come out to the Otters game and watch us play."
Again, tomorrow night is this year's "Celebrate Safety with the Otters" event. The first 500 kids through the gates will get a free bike helmet.
The otters host the Frontier Greys. The game starts at 6:35 p.m.
