Evansville Parks Receiving New Playground Equipment

Three parks getting a much needed makeover.
Three parks getting a much needed makeover. Evansville Mayor Llyod Winnecke made the announcement today.

We caught up with crews at Lorraine Park on the city's east side. Crews will be at Lorraine all week.

The others undergoing changes are Casselberry and Sixth Ave. parks on the west side. The new equipment will be installed at the west side parks next week.

Each playground set will cost nearly $14,000.

"The request was made by neighbors and people in the area," said Parks Director Denise Johnson, "that there was a need for an increase in playground equipment, and that's what started the partnership between the city of Evansville and parts department."

The improvements will be paid for with leftover funds from last year.
