Evansville Police Investigating Three Overnight Shootings

Evansville investigators have several shooting investigations on their desks all from last night.
Evansville investigators have several shooting investigations on their desks all from last night. Shots were fired near Deaconess Hospital, on Jackson Ave., and on the southeast side.

One shooting happened in the 300 block of W. Missouri St. Officers tell us the victim, 28-year-old Johnathan Gahl, was letting his dogs back in the home, when two armed men pushed their way inside.

Officers say the suspects demanded money, then Gahl began to struggle with them. He was shot in the stomach.

Investigators say one suspect used his gun to hit a woman, who was also in the home in the head. The suspects drove off in a white vehicle. Neither of the victims' injuries are life-threatening.

No one was hurt in the other two shootings last night. The first at 9:45 p.m. in the 1500 block of Savannah Dr. near Vann and Covert.

At least one bullet hit an apartment but no people. Police have no suspect description yet.

The other shots fired incident was about a half-hour later. A witness told officers four male suspects got out of an SUV in the 800 block of Jackson Ave. and walked out of view, but then several shots rang out.

The suspects were then seen getting back into the SUV and taking off.  Police haven't received any injury reports. No one's been arrested.
