Eyewitness news was the only station at the scene on Covert Ave. near Garvin St., where five people are charged with crimes like drug possession were taken into custody.
EPD says the raid was possible because several neighbors called crime stopping hotlines to report illegal activity.
"This is a neighborhood with a lot of good people that live in it," said Sgt. Jason Cullum. "Right across the street from the target house, there's a habitat home that's being built, and the crew is actually there today putting some finishing touches on it. So, this is a neighborhood that wants to be better. They don't want to see these individuals come in here and set up shop and bring the riff raff into the neighborhood."
EPD says they sent the SWAT team because one of the people in the home has an violent criminal history. Nobody was hurt in the incident.
