Evansville Rotary Club Celebrates a Century of Service

After a century's worth of service, Evansville's Rotary Club is celebrating. The Rotary Club kicked off their centennial celebration today and will continue to honor it's charter members the next three months.

The very first meeting of the Rotary Club was in the former St. George Hotel, where the McCurdy Hotel now stands. It's a club that's rich in tradition as four current members are direct descendants of founding members.

"The Rotary Club of Evansville continues it's long tradition," said Rotary Historian Harry Lukens III, "of providing leadership and direction to the growth of this community. After 100 years, this club stresses the motto 'Service Above Self.'"

The club also received a $20,000 donation from a member who recently passed away.
