Evansville Water: So Far So Good

The Evansville Water Department says its first test results for MCHM in the drinking water are negative.

The Evansville Water Department says its first tests for MCHM in the drinking water have come back negative.

Those tests were taken around 4:00 Monday morning.  Officials are monitoring the water supply as a the chemical works its way down the Ohio River.  The dangerous chemical got into the river during a spill more than a week ago in West Virginia.  Water Department officials say they did not believe the chemical would cause a problem in Evansville because by the time any of the chemical got here it would be diluted.  They also say Louisville had no problems as the chemical passed by that city a couple of days ago.

Officials say they plan to continue tests until they are sure what is left of the spill has passed by Evansville.
