We stopped by Gene's Restaurant and Bar-B-Q on Green St. Faithful customers were there having one last meal.
The Thomason family says it can no longer compete in the business.
"Food cost has really gotten tough" said owner Zach Thomason, "and these larger chains they've got it down to a fine art about this and that. And their advertising, and it's hard to beat them."
The owner tells us his father started Gene's 35 years ago in 1978.
