The state asked FEMA to approve grants and low-interest loans for victims of the November 17, tornadoes around Kokomo, Indiana, just north of Indianapolis.

The state says more than 190 homes suffered major damage or were destroyed in the area. Officials estimate Howard County sustained more than $2.84 million in damage.
