A federal judge rules Chicago's gun ban is unconstitutional. The city wanted to ban virtually all sales and transfers of firearms.
U.S. District Judge Edmond Chang said he realizes that officials are trying to stop gun violence, but he added "certain fundamental rights are protected by the constitution."
The FBI's latest annual crime report showed Chicago had 500 homicides in 2012, up from 431 in 2011.
