City Code Enforcer John Stroud says it's illegal to post them on street signs or utility poles. Some residents have reportedly put them on stop and speed limit signs. Stroud says if you want to get the word out on a yard sale, keep any postings closer to home.
"If you get it behind the sidewalk, you're in good shape," said Stroud. "If there's not a sidewalk in your subdivision, or if you live in an older area where there are no sidewalks, if you get it four to five feet off the back of the curb, or the road, or on the back side of the yard ditch, you're in good shape."
Stroud says you can also place signs on a neighbor's yard as long as you get their permission.
