Hollywood Make-Up Artist to Host Special Effects Workshops

Owensboro native Dave Snyder will present two workshops on creating special effects make-up using what can be found in stores in the Tristate. Snyder has worked in Hollywood for 20 years.
Dave Snyder is an Owensboro, Kentucky success story. After completing a correspondence course from legendary special effects makeup artist Dick Smith (The Exorcist), Dave set out for Hollywood over 20 years ago and has been steadily working in the motion picture industry ever since. This shot is a background extra being taken out of makeup in the remake of Dawn of the Dead.

Most recently you can see Dave’s work in the latest Star Trek movie Star Trek Into Darkness. On that film, Dave handled applying the ears for the iconic Mr. Spock character on both Zachary Quinto and Leonard Nimoy.

Snyder will host two workshops Saturday, October 19th, 11:00 am-1:00 pm and 4:00 pm-6:00 pm

Dave will present a slide show of some of work, demonstrate several makeups, and end with Q&A. Those who attend are encouraged to bring notepads and pens. No video or pictures will be allowed during the lecture. Afterwards, those in attendance will be allowed to shoot the final products.
