LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- An Interstate 65 ramp in a busy interchange in downtown Louisville has been closed by Kentucky Transportation Cabinet engineers.
The ramp carries traffic from I-65 north to I-64 west. It's closed as a precaution pending inspection of apparent deterioration in one support column.
The cabinet says the ramp is within the area of the downtown portion of the Ohio River bridges construction project, but the Kennedy bridge, which carries I-65 between Louisville and southern Indiana, is not affected.
Lead contractor Walsh Construction Inc. plans to have a structural engineer on site during a thorough inspection by state engineers.
One alternative route would be I-65 north to I-264 west to I-64.
