In response to the heavy snow and low temperatures forecasted across the state, Indiana Governor Mike Pence authorizes that all state government offices be closed on Monday. Only essential personnel have to report, according to the Governor's Office.
Governor Pence has also directed the National Guard to send out more highway assistance teams. Additional teams will report to armories in 11 cities including Evansville.
Teams will help in rescuing stranded motorists, moving individuals to shelters and assist in other life-saving measures. With the extra deployments, 48 highway assistance teams are deployed across the state consisting of nearly 200 guardsmen and 96 vehicles.
