Jackson Charged with Murder in December Death Investigation

An Evansville man suspected of killing 33-year-old Nicholas Mathew has been charged with murder.
An Evansville man suspected of killing 33-year-old Nicholas Mathew has been charged with murder. Investigators believe John Jackson, Jr. killed Mathew on December 22nd. Mathew died from multiple stab wounds.

Jackson was arrested on December 25, after stabbing a cab driver during a robbery attempt. He has been in jail since then. Items recovered during the investigation linked Jackson to the Mathew murder.

Police were able to obtain an arrest warrant this afternoon, based on the evidence and other evidence gathered during their investigation.

Jackson is also charged with the armed robbery of the Marathon Gas Station on the 700 block of N. Weinbach on December 20. He could face 225 years in prison if convicted on all charges.
