Kentucky's agriculture commissioner has a lot of plans for the next year and today. He shared them with western Kentuckians. James Comer held an agriculture town hall this morning at Hancock County High School.

He says benefits corporations are a major priority for the upcoming General Assembly. It's a category for companies that consider society and the environment in making business decisions.

"I think this is a new way to attract business into Kentucky," said Comer, "because the only way we're going to improve our state's economy is by attracting new investment. I think there are many roles as agriculture commissioner in that. Not just in agriculture or food production, but also trying to attract new investors into Kentucky."

Comer also talked about changes he's helped make in the Agriculture Cabinet. He says the department's been able to save taxpayer money and increase accountability since he started.
