Japanese Company Purchases Kentucky Bourbon Brands

Two major Kentucky bourbon brands, Jim Beam and Maker's Mark, will soon be acquired by a Japanese company.
Two major Kentucky bourbon brands, Jim Beam and Maker's Mark, will soon be acquired by a Japanese company. Beam Inc. has agreed to sell its line of bourbon and whiskey for just over $13 billion.

The deal would create the third largest global premium spirits business. Besides its namesake bourbon, the company also sells Canadian Club Whisky and Courvoisier Cognac.
