The driver was 69-year-old Edwina Cabe from Overland Park, Kansas. The Posey County coroner pronounced Cabe dead at the scene
Officials say she was traveling west on I-64 in her pick up, when the truck left the roadway and collided with a guardrail. She then swerved across both lanes striking another rail and eventually crossing the interstate once more into the concrete bridge.
The air evac helicopter was on scene while crews tried to revive the woman. Cabe's dog died in the wreck as well.
"Air-evac was on standby almost immediately as soon as someone arrived," said Indiana State Trooper Ted Clamme, "and said she was having trouble breathing and going in and out of conscienceless. When the media arrived, she was speaking with them until she was moved."
The west bound lanes of I-64 are back open. An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow. The accident is still under investigation.
