The Southwestern Indiana Building and Construction Trades Council said Thursday it stands in full support of the proposed downtown hotel.
Wendell Hibdon, Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 136 business manager, was one of five labor leaders who met at Thursday afternoon. He said they plan to call members of city council this weekend to solicit their support for the proposal.
"Until that votes taken," Hibdon said. "It's just political gamesmanship."
Chuck Whobrey, president of Teamsters Local 215, wasn't at the meeting, but said the hotel is necessary for downtown redevelopment.
"I don't take any councilperson's vote as some kind anti-union vote," Whobrey said. "But, I am frustrated that they can't work the kinks out to get this project done because I think it's important for the community."
The city council will vote Monday on the proposed hotel.
