Lady Wildcats Prepared to Defend Title

What are Mater Dei's thoughts on a three-peat with the season just two weeks away?
The Mater Dei Lady Wildcats are coming off back-to-back state title runs in Class 2A, but this year will face a much tougher road to the Hulman Center in Class 3A.  Mater Dei finished last year with a 28-3 record under coach Steve Goans.  But the team will have to find some senior leadership after Beth Fischer graduated last year.
Senior Maura Muensterman and junior Tori Schikel will each play huge roles for this team, but assistant coach Terry Muensterman is looking for a push from some of the underclassmen, as well.
"We know what we're gonna get with Tori and Maura and Ashlynn [Spahn]," says the coach, also Maura's father. "But we're looking for the juniors to step up as well and I think they will. They're working hard in practice."
The Lady Wildcats start their campaign off on October 19th with a matchup with Southridge.
