He's a familiar face In a new place. The 2013 football season marks the first in which Tony Lewis now brings his trademark intensity to the Colonels.
"He's intense but he's always positive," says senior cornerback Justin McCormick. "It keeps us wanting to practice hard and play hard."
"Now we know just how important being a team really is," adds center Trey Collins. "I really appreciate how intense he is. It helps us out a lot."
With a new coach comes a transition from the traditional Henderson County veer-option attack to a more pass-happy offense.
"We went from running a veer to now spreading it out," says McCormick. "The offense is completely different."
"I guess its just in our nature to run the ball," Collins chimes in. "We feel like it moves the ball better. There's a lot of risk of interception and dropping the ball but we're working with our receivers on that."
As a showdown with Lewis's old team looms, his experience on the hill could prove invaluable.
"We know some of the personel, but Coach Hape has installed a different offense than we ran last year," says Lewis. "I'm pretty familiar with the Bowl and the locker room situation so I think I can figure out what we need to do."
