Man Arrested For Attempted Murder, Suspect in Another Murder

Evansville Police and Vanderburgh Sheriff's Deputies believe they may have solved a mini crime spree.

Evansville Police and Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Deputies believe they have solved a mini crime spree.

They have arrested John Vernon Jackson Junior in connection with the Christmas Eve stabbing of an Evansville taxi cab driver.  After Jackson was arrested detectives say he also confessed to the December 20th hold up of gas station on Weinbach.  In addition to that, investigators say Jackson is a suspect in the murder of Nicholas Matthew.  Matthew's body was found in his home in the 1100 block of Hatfield Drive in Evansville Tuesday.  Police say Matthew's home was ransacked, that some items were missing, and that it appeared Matthew's died from multiple stab wounds, but an autopsy is scheduled for Friday to determine an official cause of death.

Police say Jackson admitted being at Matthew's home and robbing Matthew's, but they say he denies knowing anything about the murder.
