A Tri-State man is getting a second chance.
Mitch Petty began looking for a kidney donation in May. Doctors told him he may have to wait four to five years before finding a match. But, about a month later, his wife, Meredith Petty, got a call from her co-worker saying he was a match and willing to donate. Charlie Bockelman said his reasons for donating are obvious.
"To give him the best chance at an opportunity to see his kids grow up," Petty said. "And have a better quality of life and not rely on dialysis to keep him going."
Both men are having surgery Monday in Indianapolis.
