Classes have resumed at McLean County High School, and so has repair work in the school's gym.

School officials say crews started replacing the gym floor this week and installed a temporary roof. Students were able to use five classrooms that were damaged in last month's winter storm.

Strong winds blew off a part of the gym roof while students were on Winter Break. It forced the school's holiday basketball tournament to be moved and has teachers changing lesson plans for this semester.

"I was just glad no one was here when it happened," said Principal Ashley Troutman. "It can always be worse. It could've tore up more. But more than anything, no one was here and no one was hurt. So, all this stuff can be replaced."

Troutman says work on a permanent roof may not start until this Spring at the earliest.
