We're there as the school's president, principal, and Mayor Lloyd Winnecke kick off construction. The school had to remove some 1940's era duplexes to get the project going.
"It's been a long time coming," said Memorial High School President Brother Lawrence Murphy. "We've been purchasing properties for a long time to do this. We look at it as a great renovation for the neighborhood. The city looks at it as a great renovation for the neighborhood. We eliminated a lot of duplexes, meth houses, and things like that."
Memorial's principal says they've reached their fundraising goal of $6 million. He hopes to have everything ready by next Fall.
