More Americans Traveling this Year for the Holidays

AAA estimates more than 94 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more from home during the holiday season and nearly 90 million travel by car.  At gas stations around the Tri-State, plenty of people were filling up their tanks and traveling for the holidays.

AAA expects to rescue around 4 million drivers during the holiday season primarily for breakdowns, flat tires, and lockouts. Some drivers take some precautionary measure before starting a road trip.

"We live in Missouri," said Jenn Deal, "and we're heading to West Virginia. We always pack water, we have warm clothes, always make sure we're filled up on gas, and that's pretty much it."

AAA says the number of travelers is expected to be slightly higher than last year, which would make it the fifth consecutive year  holiday travel has increased.

And it should be cheaper to drive this year as gas is slightly cheaper than it was this time last year.
