Multiple Overnight Fires in Evansville

Evansville firefighters had their hands full overnight as several fires broke out.
Evansville firefighters had their hands full overnight as several fires broke out.

The first call came in just before midnight in the 800-block of Line Street.  Fire investigators say a blanket on the first floor of the home was set on fire, and a stack of magazines on the second floor were also burning.  The fire is currently being investigated as an arson.

A short time later, crews were sent to a report of two homes on fire in the 200-block of South New York. Firefighters say flames on one house spread next door.  It took crews about an hour to extinguish both fires, but crews were called back after one of the homes reignited.

Investigators say both homes were vacant with one already scheduled to be torn down.

Nobody was hurt in any of the fires.
