The group's Facebook page was posted Wednesday and has more than 300 likes now. The group includes private citizens who say they feel the hotel project is a threat to existing business.
"Everyone loves this city. I love this city. I'm still here," said page creator Phillip Schulz. "But we don't want to be thrown under the bus. We don't want to be mislead. The numbers have been exaggerating, and we want the truth."
Schulz says the group is urging followers to show up to the remaining public meetings to express their opposition. The next public hearing is scheduled at Concordia Lutheran Church on Saturday.
The city council will have the final vote next month.
