New this year for Indiana taxpayers, a program to help prevent identity theft when it comes to filing your state income tax returns.

The Department of Revenue will be using a program called "Lexis Nexis" to help confirm the identities and refunds of Hoosier taxpayers. Officials expect 90-percent of all returns will be verified through this database.

As an extra level of protection, some taxpayers will be selected to verify their information. If you get a letter from the Department of Revenue to do so, that does not mean your personal information has been compromised.

It just means you were chosen to take an "identity confirmation quiz", which officials say should only take a few minutes.
