New OPS Superintendent Tours Schools

School Superintendent Dr. Nick Brake visits several schools this morning in Owensboro.
It's the first day of school for thousands of Kentucky students. Some Owensboro children see a new face in class Wednesday morning.

New Owensboro Public School Superintendent Dr. Nick Brake toured four schools Wednesday, including Foust Elementary. He took over for Dr. Larry Vick, who retired this summer. Brake says the first day is something he's looked forward to since starting the new job.

"As an administrator, we're primarily with the operational parts of the district," he says. "So, being able to work and see the kids walk the halls, and see the Kindergarteners and the high school students walking in, it's a fun part of the job."

Brake says district finances and facilities are two of the challenges facing OPS this year.
