The revamped formula up for discussion has already been approved by a bipartisan panel.  It would grade schools on a 100 point scale, based in part on how their students perform on standardized tests.

The system would also expand testing to first and second grades.  It's not clear whether the Republican-controlled board will adopt or reject the new formula.
