The two-year-old son of Minnesota Vikings Running Back Adrian Peterson has died at a hospital in South Dakota. Authorities believe the child was abused by his mother's boyfriend.

Peterson was back on the field this morning but asked the media respect his privacy and not ask specifics about what happened to the child.

Meanwhile, 27-year-old Joseph Patterson has been charged with aggravated assault for allegedly harming the toddler who was in his care. The initial 911 call was to report a child choking, but once the boy made it to the hospital, authorities found his injuries were not accidental.

When Peterson addressed the media this afternoon, he said he still intends to play in Sunday's game, but that was before the child passed away. The boy lived with his mother, who has not been reached for comment.
