Owensboro Police Officers Playing the Role of Santa

Santa Claus wears red and white, but it was the men and women in blue playing the role of Santa this morning. Owensboro Police delivered more than 200 boxes of food.

It's part of their first-ever food drive known as "Operation Santa." The boxes had a week's worth of food, which included turkeys and bread, for needy families regularly served by Meals on Wheels.

"A lot of time people see us in a limited capacity," said Officer Rick Latanzio, "and usually, it's when something bad or not-so-good has happened. This puts them in a good light, and we have a lot of people that care in this building."

The Elizabeth Mundy Senior Center and more than a dozen businesses helped with the drive.
