Pastor Says Church Will Move on from Parish Hall Roof Collapse

Friday the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Parish Hall roof collapsed. Today members of the congregation says they would like to see it rebuilt, and Father Dave Johnson agrees.
First it was shock, then it was devastation, now the Sacred Heart Church makes plans to move on. "It's devastating isn't it?" Pastor of Sacred Heart Father Dave Johnson led mass today at Saint Peter's in Waverly, he says he looks forward to address the congregation at Sacred Heart tomorrow morning. "I'm struck by the sheer random nature of it. For no reason at all the thing seems to have collapsed," said Father Johnson. "We've used it for 40 years and there's not even a window in the building."
"Last month when we had breakfast there it was completely fine," Karen French leads music at Sacred Heart. "It was scary because we have a lot of our family get togethers a lot of our parish church family get togethers there." She says the parish hall was used often, from baby showers to wedding receptions, and held a lot of fond memories. "Please rebuild it so we can have more memories. Because the one's that were there will never be forgotten, but we need more memories." The parish hall is ruined, but the church next door is unscathed, and mass will go on tomorrow as usual. "It'll be sad because a lot of people haven't actually seen what it looks like," said French.
"I'm sure that we will be excited to talk about it with one another and then to make plans about where to go from here," said Father Johnson. "I really expect in a short period of time that we will have a solution and find another building to go to." Father Johnson says he will meet with the pastoral council within the next month to discuss future plans.
