Earlier this year, more than 700 students took part in "Run at the Mounds," a fundraising competition at Angel Mounds. They also raised money through Pennies for Patients.
A check was presented today to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society at Plaza Park. Students say they had their own motivation for wanting to make a difference.
"It was awesome," said 8th grader Sadie Harper, "and the main reason I did it was actually for the limo ride. And it was for a friend because she gets bullied a lot."
The student in each grade who raised the most money in pennies won a limo ride. Sadie raised $70. Her school raised more than its goal of $6,000.
