As the temperatures drop tonight, plumbers across the Tri-State are reminding everyone to check their pipes. Pipes bursting has been a big problem lately due to sub-zero temperatures.

Plumbers say you should allow faucets to drip overnight and know how to shut off the water quickly if a pipe were to burst.

"Most of your homes have a main shut off or a meter," said Scott Baird of Scott Baird Plumbing and Heating. "Hopefully, you've got a main shutoff somewhere, so that it'd be nice to know ahead of time your family would know where that be at."

Baird says his company responded to hundreds of reports of broken pipes the past two weeks throughout the Owensboro area.
