A Madisonville restaurant was linked Thursday to a salmonella outbreak in Hopkins County, The outbreak killed one person and made seven others sick.
Denise Beach, Hopkins County public health director, said Casa Mexicana has made corrections, retrained employees and has since reopened.
Staff members at Casa Mexicana didn't want to go on camera, but said business has been slow since the connection was made to the restaurant. In a statement, the general manager said he'd like to extend 'heartfelt condolences' to the families affected by the cases. He also said in 12 years he hasn't heard of any other illness related to the restaurant.
Beach said the number of cases may top out at twelve, including the death. She's waiting on four pending cases. Beach said expects to know for sure by next week.
