Small Earthquake Rattles Northern Illinois

The U.S. Geological Survey says an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.7 has hit northern Illinois.
INDIAN HEAD PARK, Ill. (AP) -- The U.S. Geological Survey says an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.7 has hit northern Illinois.

The agency says the temblor struck Indian Head Park in Cook County around 12:35 p.m. CT. It was about 1.4 kilometers deep.

Indian Head Park is about 16 miles southwest of Chicago and has about 3,800 residents.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

Earthquakes between 2.5 magnitude and 3.0 are typically some of the smallest felt by humans.
