Earlier this year, 56 families made a list of items they needed for the holidays. From gifts to everyday supplies, volunteers helped divide up these 500 plus boxes at St. Vincent's Daycare this morning in Evansville.
This time is especially crucial as kids are spending more time at home due to Winter break.
"Most of the packages we've seen come in so far have food in them," said Stephanie Starkey of St. Vincent's Daycare. "There's a Christmas tree over there. I mean it's just the little things that we don't think about when we're out during our normal day because we've got it, and there's so many families in the Tri-State that don't. So, this is a great opportunity to help them."
This is St. Mary's third year giving back to St. Vincent. Officials say these items don't just help the kids, each family averages about 10 boxes with goodies for everyone.
