Members of the school's student council raised more than $900 with their recent "Candy Gram" fundraiser. The students planned to donate the money they raised to the Vanderburgh Humane Society.
Turns out they sold more than 1,800 candy canes treats. The students spent about $300 on supplies and donated the rest in cash to VHS.
"It's very important," said student Kristan Lockyear, "because they're a non-profit. So, they can only rely on people who donate stuff to them."
"I think it's important to help out the community and be a part of it," said student Grace McDurmon. "It feels good and makes other peoples lives easier when everyone helps out."
The kids hung out in the "cat lounge" and played with some of the animals too. Another important way to help the animals at the humane society, spending a little time with them.
