Students Learn from Veterans in Owensboro

Daviess County Middle School students heard from Army veterans Monday morning.
Daviess County students learned about serving in combat from two Army veterans.

Rob Appleby and Gary Burkahrt of Kentucky Pro Bass Warriors spoke to 6th graders from Daviess County Middle School. They talked about serving overseas and its effects on them and their families.

"They asked more intuitive questions, which was amazingly insightful on their part," Appleby says. "I was very proud to see that these children took the time to think about what they asked and how it might affect the people responding."

The assembly is part of a school project where students describe the character traits of heroes.
