Target CEO Gregg Steinhafel announced Friday that all shoppers will receive a 10 percent discount on Saturday and Sunday. CNN reports the announcement comes after 40 million Target shoppers had their credit and debit card data breached.
To protect yourself while holiday shopping, the Tri-State Better Business Bureau recommends using credit cards. Vice President Tom Bozikis said it gives more protection like charge back rights and provides the ability to dispute charges. He said that is sometimes more difficult to do that when using a debit card.
If you see irregular charges on your statement, Bozikis suggests obtaining a free credit report. Then, if necessary, freezing your credit card. He said you can go the Federal Trade Commission website and fill out an affidavit about your loss and possible identity theft.
