A week after winter storms swept through the Tri-State, some side streets and sidewalks remain covered in snow and ice.

A week after winter storms swept through the Tri-State, some side streets and sidewalks remain covered in snow and ice.

According to Evansville city code, property owners and businesses are responsible for putting down salt or sand and shoveling sidewalks when necessary.

A Deaconess spokesperson said they’ve received more than thirty visits with injuries related to ice and snow.

Dr. Douglas Hatler said it’s important for people to prioritize activities when the weather is bad.

“How critical is it that you go down to pick up mail?” Hatler said. “It’s not going any place. You can go when the weather clears up a little bit, or even better yet, you can arrange for someone to pick it up.”
