Tristate Prepares, Takes Part in Great Shakeout Earthquake Drill

How to protect yourself in an earthquake:

- Drop: Get as low to the ground as possible.
- Cover: Get underneath something sturdy like a table or desk.
- Hold on: Hold on to your cover tightly. The shaking of an earthquake may move you around.

To participate in the drill:
- Sign up at
- At 10:17 am, practice drop, cover and hold on.
- Go through your house, school or workplace and take a look at how to secure heavy items.
