Fall Festival vendors gathered for the first time Sunday to talk about safety concerns. Along with fire safety and watching for suspicious activity, law enforcement asked vendors to be especially vigilant when accepting cash. One officer said there have been more than 100 cases of counterfit cash in Evansville in September, and stressed the importance of using pens to check the validity of bills.
Law enforcement said five, ten and even one dollar bills are becoming more common in the Tri-State. If a vendor thinks a bill is counterfit, they are asked to call 911.
