We were there in Webster County as volunteers worked today to get the ruts taken out of the grass after Mayor Linda Frederick's husband, Jimmy Frederick, was according to the mayor attempting to perform maintenance on the field.
Jimmy Frederick was arrested for allegedly hitting a man with his tractor, who was trying to stop him.
Neighbors say the point is to give the kids a place to play.
"Everybody seems to be that the kids have been hit over this ordeal, and they have," said Monica Duncan. "But I would think more people if the children were the main concern and the soccer, more people would have come and devoted some time to get the field ready where the kids could play again."
Crews have spent the last three days stripping the grass from the fields and evening out the dirt, so they can plant new grass. The city hopes to have the fields open in time for kids to play this Fall.
