The downhill skiing champion said on Tuesday, through a Facebook post, she won't compete in the Winter Olympics due to a knee injury.
Vonn says she's devastated, but adds, her knee is too unstable to compete at the Olympic level. She injured her knee at the World Championships nearly a year ago.
The four-time World Cup overall champion underwent reconstructive surgery, but a crash during training in November aggravated the problem, leading to her decision to pull out of the February games.
Vonn says she's undergoing another surgery and plans to compete at the World Championships in Vail, Colorado in 2015.
